Good Morning Britain’s Laura Tobin has given birth prematurely – and named her baby after fellow GMB presenter

The baby is doing well

An exciting announcement was made on today’s Good Morning Britain, albeit with a hint of worry as weather presenter Laura Tobin has given birth prematurely.

GMB hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid said the baby is doing well and is being cared for in hospital after being born too early.

Laura told viewers she was pregnant back in May and has taken time off over the summer.

The baby has been given the same name as another GMB presenter!

Piers said: “You may have noticed that Laura, our weather goddess, hasn’t been here over the summer.

“We are really pleased to announce she has given birth to a little baby girl.”

Susanna added: “She has called her Charlotte.”

Piers then interjected with a joke about the baby being named Charlotte, when their fellow presenter is also called Charlotte (Charlotte Hawkins).

Piers joked: “It was either gonna be Susanna or Charlotte and she went the right way.”

Susanna hit back when she said: “Thank goodness she didn’t call the baby Piers.”

Parents Laura and Dean are said to be holding vigil by their baby’s bedside.

Susanna continued: “Little Charlotte came a little earlier than planned and she is being looked after in hospital.

“Laura and her husband Dean are with her every day and she is growing in size and strength.”

Piers added: “All our best to Laura and Dean and little baby Charlotte.

“It’s been a tricky few months but good luck to all of you.”

Laura also announced the news to her followers on Twitter, as she said: “I’m proud to announce I’m a mummy-My beautiful baby arrived over the summer (much earlier than planned) a gorgeous girl called Charlotte.” Aw!
