Piers Morgan hits out at latest additions to Good Morning Britain presenting team

Looks like the producers are having a laugh at Morgan's expense

| Updated:

It’s been the most ridiculously successful reality series in recent history, and Love Island’s 2017 alumni are making the most of the opportunity in a big way.

Montana is being tipped for a huge TV career, Dom Lever is going on a MASSIVE TOUR (of nightclubs) and Jess Shears is promoting a lot of #spon products on Instagram.

Marcel is going back to Blazin’ Squad – did he mention he used to be in the Blazin’ Squad? – and if Chris Hughes doesn’t appear on a milk advert with his top off in a field of cows then that is a missed opportunity, if ever we’ve seen a missed opportunity.

But it looks like the biggest gig is going to winners Amber Davies, 20, and 21 year-old Kem Cetinay, who as well as their £50,000 prize money – ours is three champagnes, thanks guys – have landed a gig as presenters on Good Morning Britain.

“Since Amber and Kem won, they’ve been inundated with offers,” a source told The Sun.

“They’re both very keen to go down that route, and ITV and Channel 4 have shown interest.

“But they couldn’t pass up the chance to host Good Morning Britain.”

ITV and Channel 4 were both believed to be keen on signing up Welsh dancer Amber and hairdresser from Romford – ROMFORD (sorry, Love Island in-joke) – Kem, but it was ITV that bagged them in the end.

And while a lot of people thought that Kem would appear in TOWIE, as he knows a lot of the guys and has styled Pete Wicks’ hair, he says he couldn’t make Amber leave her hometown to come all that way.

This is essentially Gavin and Stacey, you know, right here, can we take a moment to appreciate this?

Instead, Amber and Kem will join other summer guest presenters like Eamonn Holmes, Richard Madeley and Jeremy Kyle on the GMB sofa.

Given that Piers Morgan had a lot to say on this series of Love Island, we suspect this might be the idea of a producer who has seen an opportunity for the ultimate wind-up.

Piers! You know who could totally step in and do your job? Those people you labelled ‘cretins’ and ‘stupid’ and who have never presented anything, ever.

Today Kem and Amber appeared on GMB to confirm the rumours that they would be hosting a showbiz segment later in August.

And Piers – rather predictably – responded to speculation about how he feels about the news by stating: “I quit.”

He was joking, of course (we hope!), but it’s pretty clear he’s not down with the idea.

For anyone living under a rock the past couple of months, Piers hasn’t wasted an opportunity to slate the ITV2 show, or the contestants on it.

As well as goading Jonny Mitchell with weird maths and geometry quizzes when he went on the show in an effort to prove the islanders were all ‘dimwits’, Piers also tweeted about his hate for the show.

“Watching my 1st episode of Love Island,” he said. “It will also be my last. My brain can’t suffer this kind of damage.”

On the show he added: “Do you know what I watched one episode. I have never watched a more cretinous bunch of people behaving in a more cretinous way for all my life.

“I don’t get it. What is going on? They are the most stupid collection of people.”

Oh Piers. We await your reaction to their presenting skills on YOUR SHOW with baited breath.
