Kym Marsh teams up with Hollyoaks star in new TV show Life Begins

The series was created by Kym and ex-Hollyoaks' Gerard McCarthy

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has created her very own TV show, alongside former Hollyoaks actor Gerard McCarthy.

Just weeks after announcing she was leaving the ITV soap, Kym has confirmed her next project is Life Begins.

In an Instagram post to her 186,000 followers, the actress wrote: “First ep of our show is finished!!! Soooooo exciting!! @gerard_mccarthy.”

She also shared a photo of the script, which showed the title ‘Life Begins’ and revealed the show had been created by Kym and Gerard, who also wrote the first episode.

He, in turn, posted the same photo with the message: “We finished the first ep of our show this week… Eeeeek but EXCITING!! #LifeBegins.”

Fans were quick to congratulate them, with one replying: “Can’t wait to see this! It will be brilliant.”

Another said: “So so proud of how far you’ve come and how much you’ve accomplished over the years. I love you.”

Of course, others began speculating about the nature of the show, asking if it would be a comedy or drama, and what channel it will air on.

However both Kym and Gerard kept tight-lipped about exact details.

In fact, we don’t yet know if Kym will star in the episodes or stay behind the camera.

The news comes after Kym denied reports she’d be participating in any reality TV.

She wrote in her OK! magazine column: “I’ve loved every minute of working there and I’ve made some great friends at work but now feels like the right time for me to take a break and spread my wings.

“There were reports that I was going to appear in the next series of Strictly or I’m a Celeb… As wonderful as those shows are, I’m not leaving Corrie after 13 years to do reality TV.”

She announced she was leaving the soap in February.

The former Hear’Say singer will leave the show later this year, but bosses reportedly won’t kill off her character, meaning the chance for a return has been left open.

Kym has been friends with fellow soap star Gerard ever since they met on the first day of rehearsals for Saturday Night Fever in 2004.

In a tribute to the actress, The Fall actor recently said: “Fifteen years later, I can safely say that she is one of may closest friends in the world. Broken bones, broken hearts… We’ve done it all!”

Alluding to their TV project, he added: “And now we’re working together again and it makes me so frickin’ happy! Love you Marshy!”

She, in reply, said: “One of my best friends in the world forever and always!! So excited for what’s to come!”
