Kym Marsh posts loving tribute to angel son Archie for 9th birthday

He would have been nine this year...

On what would have been her son Archie’s 9th birthday, Kym Marsh celebrated his memory with a beautiful tribute.

The 41 year old posted a touching picture that showed her loving shrine to her baby boy with ex-Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas.

Archie was born prematurely at 21 weeks and died seconds after being born.

The message she posted alongside the picture just proved how heartbreaking that moment nine years ago was, and still is, for the Coronation Street star.

She wrote: “9 years ago today our lives changed forever. Our hearts will never heal and our tears will always fall because we miss you so much.”

“I am so proud to have been your mummy. I wish we were having a party today with balloons and presents.”

“I wish I had got to see your smile and hold your hand.”

“I wish I could kiss your face and hug you tightly. I wish I had heard your voice. I wish I had been able to pick you up when you had fallen, put plasters on your knees, dry your tears.”

“I wish I wish I wish you were here. You are always in our hearts my beautiful boy. Happy birthday. We miss you and love you so very much. Have fun up there today little one Mummy loves you ”

Kym hosted a charity ball on Saturday night which raised money for Saying goodbye, part of the Mariposa Trust which helps families deal with losing a baby at any stage of pregnancy, after the birth or during infancy.

She said: “Losing a child, whatever the circumstance, is devastating and often people don’t know where to turn or how to rebuild their lives.”

“So, in our boy’s name, on what would have been the day before his 9th birthday, we are holding this ball to raise funds for bereaved parents and families who have lost their precious children.”

Kym has spoken about celebrating Archie when she was on Lorraine recently.

She said: “We celebrate his birthday every year, send balloons up at New Year’s and Christmas for him. He’s a huge part of our family.

“We’ve always wanted to do something in his memory to help other people. After doing the storyline last year I finally got the bit between my teeth and thought ‘what can we do?’.”

She was referring to, of course, her character Michelle Connor in Coronation Street’s late miscarriage storyline.

She revealed: “It was a real challenge. It’s staggering, you spend so many years trying to get away from those feelings, then go back to relive it.”

“My reasons for wanting to do it were reaching out to people who have gone through it. Baby loss is still a taboo subject that people don’t want to discuss. We wanted to lift that taboo and get people talking.”

“I’ve been there, I know how it feels to lose a child. It’s the single worst thing that’s ever happened to me and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. My ambition now really is to go forth and try and help people in that situation.”
