Kym Marsh slams comments about Catherine Tyldesley’s fitness pic

Kym called some of the remarks on the pic 'ridiculous'

Kym Marsh has addressed “ridiculous” remarks about a recent photo posted by Catherine Tyldesley.

Former Coronation Street star Catherine posted a selfie to Instagram earlier this month to reveal she was back to her peak fitness after an injury halted her usual training programme.

While most people congratulated Catherine on her achievement, some followers couldn’t resist pointing out Catherine’s nipples were visible through her gym top.

Well, that didn’t sit well with Catherine’s pal and Corrie co-star Kym, who addressed the furore in her latest  OK! Magazine column.

Kym congratulated Catherine on her dedication to fitness and said it was “ridiculous” that some people had chosen to focus on that particular aspect of the pic.

She wrote: “I don’t understand what all the fuss is all about. She looks great and takes her health and fitness very seriously – and it shows.

“But women, in general, have to put up with those kinds of comments. I’ve had the same and it’s annoying because you end up focusing on stupid things like that instead of the positive achievement.

“People never complain about men’s nipples. It’s ridiculous.”

Catherine is known for her healthy lifestyle and frequently provides updates for fans on her training regime.

The actress, who recently quit her role as Eva Price in Corrie, has often championed a sensible, healthy eating diet and fitness programme, rather than any fad diets or quick fixes.

She recently told Fabulous magazine: “For me personally, I feel a responsibility. I’ve got young cousins and a child and I want them to look up to me. I don’t want them seeing I’ve done crazy shakes for a holiday. I don’t want them to think that’s sustainable or going to make them happy. It’s not. It’s going to make them miserable.”

Catherine added: “Some people are very genetically blessed, but I’m not one of those people. I really have to graft, and it has to be a complete lifestyle because I do gain weight easily. So this is always going to be my life, absolutely.”

The star is mum to three-year-old Alfie.

She previously revealed she’d left her Corrie role to pursue other opportunities including writing. Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, she said: “We plan to travel, laugh as much as possible, live in the moment, work hard and cuddle my boys.

“In between, I’m writing books and scripts too, ideally on a beach or in the Lake District.”
