Kerry told This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: “As a parent your back goes up, you want to put your hands round their throat. The [primary] school took every measure they could, they rang the high school who said they were going to address it in assembly.

“The next day I woke Max up for school, he came down crying and I think he got a bit of delayed shock. I wasn’t going to make him go to school that day so he took the day off and we had lots of cuddles.”

Kerry revealed she then walked Max to school upon his return and hoped to find the culprits and march them to their parents, or take a picture of them and send it to the school if they refused. But she wasn’t triumphant.

She also revealed that Max did not see his attackers and the school haven’t been able to find who is responsible either.

She went on to admit that “violence doesn’t solve violence” and that she doesn’t want to set a bad example to her other children.

The Atomic Kitten singer said she is now hesitant to report the bullies to the police because she isn’t convinced it would be successful.

She continued: “I thought if I rang the police and reported them, what impact would that have on the bullies? Is that going to help them overcome whatever’s made them do this?”
