Kerry Katona fires back after GMB viewers slam her over school snow day solution

Joke did not go down well with some furious parents

Kerry Katona has closed down critics on social media for accusing her of ‘making a mockery of working parents’ after the singer appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier today.

The mum of four joked during her appearance that she “calls social services” for childcare when schools shut due to bad weather.

She shrugged off concerns that many parents are unable to ensure pupils are looked after when snow leads to school closures because of work commitments with the gag, which drew smiles from other presenters and guests in the ITV show’s studios.

But several of those watching were furious at what they believed Kerry was saying, with one observer suggesting Kez is too ‘privileged’ to understand how weather issues affect most families.

Speaking about her own experiences during a debate about whether schools should stay open when it snows, Kerry said she believes children should be outside having fun when it whites out.

“I have had to take my youngest to work and I’m lucky enough to be able to do that,” Kerry said.

“I completely understand childcare is very difficult, especially when you work 9 to 5.

“Do what I do, just ring social services!”

The 38-year-old continued: “I’m very privileged, blessed and really grateful I don’t have a 9 to 5 job.

“I embrace the snow and think kids should get out there.”

She later added, smiling: “Our country’s in ruins at the minute – get out and enjoy the snow!”

Many fans agreed with Kerry’s fun-loving idea – but several others took her to task over her “joke” comments on Twitter.

Responding to one who suggested Kerry was “a complete car crash”, the star said: “It was a light hearted debate, chill.”

And in a reply to another Twitter user who said Kerry is “privileged”, she laughed: “Er I wish!”
