Katie Price’s estranged husband Kieran Hayler has said he hopes the star is genuine about getting help in rehab.
The former glamour model, 40, is said to have recently entered a rehab clinic to seek treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.
In an interview with The Sun, ex Kieran admitted he was “sceptical” when he heard Katie was off to rehab but thinks it’s the right decision.
“I don’t think she’s got a choice,” said Kieran. “She has to do this not just for herself but for her career, for everything.”
He added: “Am I surprised? I’m not surprised. Do I think it’s real? I’d like to think so. But I don’t know. I hope it’s not a press stunt and I hope she is actually getting help and I wish her all the best.”
ED! has contacted Katie’s rep for comment.
Kieran and Katie married in January 2013 in the Bahamas after a whirlwind romance, but their relationship experienced several rocky patches before they split for good in May this year.
Former plasterer and stripper Kieran cheated on a pregnant Katie with her best friend in 2014. A further allegation of infidelity surfaced earlier this year, when Katie accused Kieran of getting close to a 19-year-old shop worker.
Katie announced their split in May.
It’s believed Kieran is looking after their two children, Jett, five, and Bunny, four, while Katie is in rehab.
He’s posted a string of photos of them to social media in recent days, showing the kids enjoying the outdoors and country life.
Katie has yet to speak out about going to rehab. It was her mother Amy who confirmed the news over the weekend.
It’s been a difficult year for Katie with beloved mum Amy being diagnosed with a terminal lung condition, her marriage to third husband Kieran breaking down, and a romance with boyfriend Kris Boyson recently ending.
She’s also faced headlines about her financial situation, the state of her mansion and allegations of wild partying, including a video clip filmed during a hen do in Majorca showing her appearing to rap “I love coke”.
Her Loose Women co-stars sent a public message of support to Katie earlier this week, calling her a “close friend of the show.”
Ruth Langsford told viewers: “Now you may have seen in the papers at the weekend that it’s been reported Katie Price, close friend of this show, obviously, has had a few personal problems over the last few months and has checked into rehab this weekend to be treated for post traumatic stress disorder.
“Now, obviously we don’t have all the details of what is going on but we would like to send Katie our very best wishes.”
Katie hasn’t been on the Loose Women panel since January, with a rep for the show previously saying she was taking a break to work on other projects like her Quest Red reality show.
