Katie Price ‘to restart pop career by singing at weddings at funerals’

She'll be charging £5000 for the privilege

Former glamour model Katie Price is reportedly looking into restarting her singing career by performing at private events – including birthdays, weddings and funerals.

The Sun reports that the reality star is set to offer her services as a vocalist for the moderate sum of £5,000 per event.

The publication’s source claimed hiring Katie could bring “smiles” to people’s faces.

“She will happily pop along to a funeral and sing a couple of songs of choice,” they said.

“If she can put a smile on a few people’s faces, then why not?”

While Katie already makes a living by making appearances on TV and in magazines, she’s now realised she could expand into private events as well.

“She realised she was missing a trick – she could perform at weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and funerals, too, so now they have been tacked on to her CV,” the paper’s source claimed.

Katie has made several attempts at a career in music over the years but they’ve failed to bring her much success.

She made an attempt to be the UK’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2005 and came in as the runner up.

She was beaten to the UK’s top spot by R&B singer Javine, who represented the country in the competition and placed 22nd.

The following year, she released an album with then-husband Peter Andre, which the couple had recorded in their private studio at their home in Surrey.

While the album was reportedly only ever intended to be a private project for the couple, some tracks were leaked online, leading to a full album release.

Katie released her own single, Free to Love Again, in 2010, but insisted that for her it was only ever meant to be a bit of fun. Speaking on GMTV at the time, she said she expected to be mocked for lip-syncing live performances, but that she didn’t take it seriously.

“I’m not a singer, this is just something that I’m doing for fun,” she said. “It’s not like I’m worried about getting a chart position or number one, this is purely for fun. Whether people like it or not, I’m doing it.

After a seven-year gap, she released another single, “I Got U”, which she performed live on Loose Women, later tweeting: “Enjoyed myself living my dream. I can’t win if I sing live or mime but I don’t care.”
