Katie Holmes banned from dating for five years after Tom Cruise divorce

New claims suggest real reason Katie Holmes is hiding romance with Jamie Foxx

| Updated:

Despite rumours circulating for years Katie Holmes is in a relationship with Jamie Foxx, both parties have refused to confirm their romance.

But now it seems there has been a surprisingly good reason why.

According to a new report by Radar Online, the 37-year-old’s divorce agreement states she cannot publicly date anyone until five years have passed following the end of her marriage to Tom Cruise.

A source alleged to Radar: “Katie signed a clause in her quickie divorce settlement that prevents her from embarrassing Tom in various ways, like talking about him or Scientology, or publicly dating another man for five years after the divorce.

“She’s allowed to date, but she cannot do so in a public fashion and she’s not supposed to let any boyfriend near their daughter, Suri.”

The insider claims that Katie agreed to keep her romantic life private in order to have the divorce go through quickly.

“Katie wanted out of the marriage so badly, she agreed to the terms and got $4.8 million in child support, plus another $5 million for herself,” the source added.

The actress – who shares 10-year-old Suri with Tom – shocked the world when she filed for divorce from the 54-year-old in June 2012 after five years of marriage.

The former couple signed a divorce agreement just 10 days later and Katie was awarded custody of their daughter.

In June, it was claimed by In Touch Weekly that Tom has not seen or spoken to Suri in 1,000 days.

They were last photographed together more than three years ago, when she was just six years old.

Katie and Jamie were first spotted together dancing at a benefit in The Hamptons in August 2013 and two months later reports surfaced claiming they were more than friends.

However the 48-year-old Django Unchained star denied the rumours at the time, calling them ‘hilarious’ and ‘one hundred percent not true’ during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Katie’s representatives also said at the time that they had not had a fling.

The pair have not shaken off the claims however, with several reports emerging stating that they have enjoyed many a secret rendezvous over the years.

In May of last year, an eyewitness told Us Weekly that Katie called Jamie ‘the minute’ she stepped off a flight in Los Angeles ‘and said she loved him’.

The source added: “She always gushes about how amazing he is. She says he brings joy to the world.”

The star’s rep claimed at the time she had been on the phone to Suri and was ‘not dating anyone’.

Earlier that year, Jamie had denied the romance once again, telling TMZ: “Oh come on, you guys have been trying to make that stick for three years, we’re just friends.

“As a matter of fact Anthony Zuiker, creator of CSI, he offered us an animation project and we’re working on that.”

Back in December, the Batman Begins star was a guest at Jamie’s surprise birthday party in New York at La Bilboquet restaurant.

And soon after, Katie was spotted at The Honor Bar in Beverly Hills with The Annie actor’s youngest daughter Annalise.

The pair have even sparked wedding rumours after Katie was seen wearing a diamond ring in January.

In June, Jamie’s close friend Claudia Jordan said he is ‘very happy’ with the actress on the Allegedly podcast.

However she then backtracked, stating to Entertainment Tonight: “I have no knowledge of Jamie with Katie at all. I’ve never seen them together, he’s never told me he’s dating her.

“Sorry to not have this bombshell story, but I cannot confirm them. I don’t have the knowledge of this being fact, I don’t. I misspoke.”

Then in July, Katie and Jamie were spotted enjoying dinner together in Toronto, where Katie had been working on The Kennedys: After Camelot.

If Katie did agree not to date anyone publicly until five years after her divorce, that would mean she would be able to go public with her relationship in July 2017.
