Kara Tointon sparks pregnancy rumours

Halcyon actress set tongues wagging with red carpet appearance

| Updated:

Kara Tointon prompted speculation that she’s expecting her first child during a red carpet appearance on Monday evening.

The former EastEnders actress cradled her stomach as she posed for pictures with her partner, Marius Jensen.

The pair were attending the premiere of The Festival, which stars Kara’s sister Hannah and her fiancé, Joe Thomas.

Wearing a floaty floor-length red and purple gown, Kara held her hand to her belly as she posed for photographers.

She also prominently showed a ring on her engagement finger following rumours her chiropractor boyfriend popped the question in March after they’d been dating for a year.

ED! have contacted Kara’s rep for a comment.

The Halcyon star, 35, has previously been in relationships with her EastEnders co-star Joe Swash and Strictly Come Dancing partner Artem Chigvintsev.

She previously told Hello magazine that she “dreams of getting married one day”.

“Don’t get me wrong, I would love to. But my parents never married and are still together. I would rather have a nice life together than worry about a silly date.”

Now it seems her dream will come true with Marius – but she is unlikely to talk about it as she said she feels embarrassed about speaking out about her private life in the past.

“No, sorry, I don’t talk about any of that because I cringe when I read it,” she told The Scotsman in 2017 when quizzed about her love life.

“In the past I just used to talk about everything, because well, why wouldn’t you? But then you have to read it and you just feel sick about yourself, so no, I don’t bother any more.”

The actress was supporting her sister’s latest film on Monday evening after recently swapping the screen for the stage herself.

The Mr Selfridge star has been playing the lead role in Twelfth Night in a production for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Despite her recent stage success, Kara has admitted she wouldn’t rule out a return to EastEnders one day.

She said she’s glad her character Dawn Swann wasn’t killed off when she left in 2009, leaving the door open for her to make a soap comeback in the future.
