Josie Gibson drops hint about why her panto career never took off

All party, no panto

Getting dressed up and acting in a panto might look easy, and that it’s all done as a bit of a laugh.

After all, if it was such hard work, why do celebs clamour to do them year after year?

However, it turns out it’s not as easy as all that, as ex-Big Brother star Josie Gibson revealed during a chat on Good Morning Britain today.

The reality star attempted to make her stamp on pantomime back in 2013, treading the boards as the Genie of the Lamp in Aladdin at the Bristol Hippodrome.

But despite starting on that undoubted high, she’s not been cast in one since!

The topic came up during Josie’s chat with Ben Shephard, and Josie was very candid in her response.

She said: “You shouldn’t drink during panto season. I didn’t realise it was taken so seriously. I didn’t realise how professional it was.”

“Don’t have a drink before you go on stage!”

Ben asked her if she had any plans to take part in any more pantos, either during this season or in the future, and she replied: “I don’t think I will get booked for a panto again, to be honest.”

The Mirror asked Josie’s representatives to clarify her comments, and they responded by confirming the star had never actually been fired from a panto.

Josie did go on to say that panto wasn’t a natural fit for her, as she found herself struggling to keep up with many of the gags.

She laughed: “I don’t get the punchlines, the joke, anything!”
