John Barrowman hits back after being subjected to homophobic abuse

He wasn't going to let it go!

John Barrowman has hit back after a stranger shouted a homophobic slur at him.

The I’m A Celebrity star was sharing a live video on Instagram as he hosted the Globe Travel Awards 2019, when he was left dumbstruck by someone in the audience using an offensive term for gay.

According to The Sun, the actor – who is married to his long-term partner Scott Gill – looked shocked, and told the man: “What?! We don’t say that word anymore. No we don’t.”

John, 51, slowly walked on, but was clearly upset as he said: “He just called me a [bleep]. That wasn’t right.”

The Torchwood star then told the stranger: “Sir, I suggest you stop drinking because that was rude and I take offence at you calling me a [bleep]. You can [bleep] off. [bleep]hole.”

The rest of the audience can be heard agreeing and cheering John, before he gives the person a final telling-off.

“That was on Instagram Live,” he said. “So you’ve just made a complete [bleep] of yourself, you [bleeper].”

The actor survived to the final of the jungle-based reality show, and has since announced a summer tour.

It’s also led to John trying his hand at presenting, and he was announced as Phil Schofield’s replacement on This Morning, while the veteran host is away.

It was confirmed John would be joining Holly Willoughby – who John got to know as she presented this series of I’m A Celeb – next week.

John said: “I am delighted to co-host This Morning, it’s such an iconic show and to be reunited with Holly – a familiar face from my jungle family – is just fabulous. I’m really looking forward to it.”
