Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell speak out after falling during Strictly live show

YouTube star hints he got lost in the moment

Strictly Come Dancing couple Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell truly tripped the light fantastic last night after they kicked off the show’s live tour by falling over during a routine.

An audience of thousands looked on aghast as the pair took a tumble at Arena Birmingham in the Midlands, with 27-year-old Joe going head over heels after his foot appeared to go out underneath him.

Pro dancer Dianne, 29, also hit the deck as Joe went careering backwards – but managed to prevent herself from being left in a heap by landing on her knees.

Both stars were quick to recover however and launched themselves straight back into the dance sequence.

Commenting after the show on Twitter, YouTube favourite Joe told his 5.5 million followers: “Oops.”

He also confirmed that both he and Dianne were unharmed and joked the spill happened because he had been swept away in the moment.

Attaching a GIF of a sheepish-looking Homer Simpson to his tweet, Joe said: “We’re all good btw! Just got caught up in the rock n roll of it all.”

Dianne added on her Twitter account: “Last night was amazing, slips and all.”

Before the live show, Joe uploaded a video of the huge crowd in Brum waiting to watch the Strictly stars strut their stuff to his Instagram Stories.

He later added a clip of he and Dianne celebrating their win in the second city with a chorus of Queen’s ‘We Are The Champions – even though choreographer and judge Craig Revel Horwood scored them a low two for the slip up.

Joe and Dianne, who finished as runners up to Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton in the 2018 TV series, confirmed they are seeing each other after the end of the BBC show’s run last month.

Joe shared a snap of himself gazing into Dianne’s eyes, writing: “I may not have won the glitter ball, but I’ve won something a million times more special.”

They were rumoured to have been involved for weeks before admitting they are couple.
