Jennifer Aniston speaks out about split: “I’m not heartbroken”

The Friends star has shut down rumours

Jennifer Aniston was in our lives as Rachel Green in Friends for so long, sometimes we assume we know everything about her. But she’s here to tell us, we don’t. In fact we’ve got her all wrong.

In a new interview the Hollywood star says: “The misconceptions are ‘Jen can’t keep a man,’ and ‘Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career.’ Or that I’m sad and heartbroken. First, with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken.”

Speaking to September’s issue of InStyle, the 49-year-old, who recently split from her husband of two years, Justin Theroux, added: “No one knows what’s going on behind closed doors. No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me.

“They don’t know what I’ve been through medically or emotionally. There is a pressure on women to be mothers, and if they are not, then they’re deemed damaged goods. Maybe my purpose on this planet isn’t to procreate. Maybe I have other things I’m supposed to do?”

InStyle shared a series of behind-the-scenes videos from the cover shoot to Instagram.

Fans went wild, commenting: “My God this woman is a comedy talent 😂 but oh SOOOO stunning 💕💕💕”.

Another added: “Obsessed with her”.

A third wrote: “I love her!! A long time favourite of mine! Gorgeous”.

It’s not the first time the A-list actress, who has been single since February while her estranged husband has been linked to a string of women, has hit back at headlines.

Back in 2016 she said: “My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed.

“It’s like, ‘Why are we only looking at women through this particular lens of picking us apart? Why are we listening to it?

“I just thought, ‘I have worked too hard in this life and this career to be whittled down to a sad, childless human.'”
