Stand-up comedian Jason Manford has asked his 1.3 million Facebook fans to help his 62-year-old dad get a job.

The star revealed that his dad lost his job at the Crown Courts three years ago and has struggled to even get a “job even cleaning floors at Aldi”.

Jason went on to explain that his dad “can’t stand the idea of not working” and asked his fans if anyone had any ideas to keep his dad busy.

He wrote: “Absolutely crazy watching people close to me trying to get jobs right now.

“Dad applied for a job at Aldi, he’s 62 and after losing his job at the Crown Courts a couple of years ago, just can’t stand the idea of not working or sitting on his bum doing nowt.

“He’s one of the brightest men I know yet still can’t get a job even cleaning floors at Aldi. Madness.

“If anyone’s got any ideas where I can send this proud legend of a dad so he can keep out of the house and his brain busy for a few quid a week, lemme know. At my wits’ end.”

Hundreds of fans started suggesting ideas and offers.

One said: “Its not a job offer but he is more than welcome to join me on my allotment in Denton get him out of the house for a few hours.

“No pay I’m afraid but plenty of fruit and veg and brews and a good natter.”

But Jason revealed that his dad isn’t the best gardener.

Jason replied: “Ha cheers, unfortunately my granddad’s green fingers skipped a generation!”

Another suggested: “Voluntary work is always an option.”

A third said: “Supermarkets are always looking for drivers!”

But unfortunately Jason revealed that his dad doesn’t drive.

Hopefully they’ll be able to find him a job soon. If you have any ideas for Jason’s dad you can suggest them here.

This isn’t the first time Jason has reached out to his fans for help.

Back in May the comedian made an emotional plea to his followers to help find a family friend, Martyn Hett, who was caught up in the Manchester Arena terror attack.

Alongside a photo of Martyn, Jason wrote: “Friend of my family is still missing.

“He’s called Martyn Hett, he was wearing a retro shirt and has a Deidrie Barlow tattoo on his ankle/calf. [sic]

“Please let me know if anyone has seen him since.”

It was then announced that Martyn was among the 22 victims who lost their lives that night.

This came after Jason broke down in a video on Facebook as he spoke about the horrific incident.

He explained that he would have taken his five children to see Ariana Grande, whose concert it was.

He said: “[The attackers] want your life to change. For 20 people tonight there’s an empty bed in each of their houses…god.

“I’m just heartbroken. If there’s anything I can do, I’ll do it.

“Right now, all we can do is try to stay full of love and not hate, and focus on those families and the ones who need us.”
