James Argent has reportedly taken a swipe at his ex Gemma Collins and admitted he prefers Northern girls.
The former TOWIE star, 31, is said to have made the comments to a star-studded audience at Paddy and Christine McGuinness’ Twinkle Ball charity evening, held in aid of the National Autistic Society.
Speaking to The Sun, a source claiming to have attended the event said Arg appeared to be “in great spirits” on the night, despite his recent split with Gemma.

They told the paper: “He got the crowd going as he quipped that Northern girls were nicer – making some of the very famous faces in the audience cheer.
“He said that Essex girls don’t know what they want and don’t realise what they have until it’s gone, which everyone thought was a dig at Gemma.”
The source added: “Arg went on to say Northern girls are nicer because they are clear about what they want and don’t play games.”
The Sun also reported, however, that sources said Arg has made this joke in the past and didn’t intend it to be a direct dig at Gemma.
ED! has reached out to Arg’s reps for comment.
It follows the pair’s most recent breakup, which was reportedly due to a row over Arg’s recent weight gain.
A source told The Sun the pair had a “big bust-up”, with Gemma calling Arg “an embarrassment”, although their pals don’t think the split will last.
The couple also appear to have since unfollowed each other on social media.
Elsewhere, Gemma is believed to be in the process of booking in for cosmetic surgery.

She lost a whopping two and a half stone after taking part in the latest series of Dancing On Ice, but sources have claimed she’s unhappy with the effect it’s had on her figure.
The GC is said to be considering a ‘boob lift’ and the op could potentially be filmed as part of her solo reality series, Diva Forever.
