Jade Goody’s strength for her son in dying moments revealed

Big Brother star cared for her boys till the end

One of Jade Goody’s closest friends has revealed the strength and love she showed for her sons in her final moments on the tenth anniversary of her death.

Fame Academy choreographer Kevin Adams, who became the reality star’s personal trainer, said he’ll never forget seeing how devoted Jade was to her boys as she died from cancer.

Recalling the 27-year-old’s final days, Kevin said in March 2009 doctors told them she didn’t have long to live. The Big Brother star was made as comfortable as possible in her Essex home in a bed in her dining room.

Kevin said despite her deteriorating health, Jade stunned doctors by still being able to attend to her son, Bobby, then six, when he needed her.

“That night Jade heard Bobby cry from his bedroom. She got up, walked upstairs and pulled him up onto her back and brought him to her hospital bed,” Kevin recalled to The Sun Online.

“The next day I told the doctor what had happened and she said, ‘no Jade doesn’t have the strength to do that because everything in her body is failing’. I told her that I saw it with my own eyes.

“She was able to do it because those kids meant everything to her. That memory will live with me forever, it is so special to me.”

Jade died shortly after, leaving behind her sons with Jeff Brazier, Bobby and Freddie, who was four at the time.

Just months before, she had been diagnosed with cervical cancer.

Kevin said he hopes Jade’s legacy can be that people pay attention to what happened to her and stay up-to-date with smear tests that could spot the early signs of cancer, and allow it to be treated before it becomes fatal.

However, recent figures have shown more young women are choosing not to have the test because they find it too invasive.

These sentiments have previously been echoed by Jeff, who is now raising Bobby and Freddie with his new wife, Kate Dwyer, and has become a grief coach.

He told the Daily Express last year: “We were no longer together when she got ill so I don’t know whether it was forgetfulness or fear that prevented Jade from getting help sooner.

“Jade was this amazing, larger-than-life character and she had so many wonderful qualities but organisation wasn’t one of them.

“She was young and her health probably wasn’t a priority. But as I’ve since learnt, it needs to be top of everyone’s list.”
