Actress Evan Rachel Wood has revealed she has been raped twice – once by a partner and another time by a bar owner.
The Westwood star told Rolling Stone magazine she could not “stay silent any longer” about the two attacks.
In an emotional email to the magazine she wrote: “I’ve been raped. By a significant other while we were together. And on a separate occasion, by the owner of a bar…
“I don’t believe we live in a time where people can stay silent any longer.
“Not given the state our world is in with its blatant bigotry and sexism.”
The 29-year-old, who dated rocker Marilyn Manson for four years, also told the publication that she had suffered “physical, psychological and sexual” abuse in the past.
In a separate interview she revealed how she was called a “whore” in the street while she was with Manson – and believes that people have exploited her because of her bisexuality.
Evan said: “You know, bisexuality is worthy of eye rolls.”
She added: “And I didn’t realize how damaging that was until I tried to have healthy relationships as an adult and realized that there was still all this shame and conditioning and stigma around my sexuality that was really affecting the way I related to people.
“I think I was taken advantage of because someone knew there was something about me that they could exploit.”
Evan, who came out as bisexual in 2011 and now refers to herself as “gender fluid”, also talked about her attempted suicide when she was 22
The described the incident as “weirdly, the best-worst thing that ever happened to me. ‘Cause it did not work.”
Evan has a son, three, with her ex husband Jamie Bell, and currently stars in movie Westworld with Thandie Newton.
Both stars have spoken out to defend a graphic rape scene in the futuristic thriller, in which humans pay robots to act out their darkest fantasies.
