I’m A Celebrity’s Anne Hegerty quits trial after it gets too much

She did her best

| Updated:

Anne Hegerty was forced to say “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” during her first Bushtucker trial on Tuesday night’s show.

The Chase star, 60, faced the Monstrous Monoliths Trial in which she was locked in boulder shaped cages with just 90 seconds to unlock two padlocked cases and retrieve the stars within.

In the first cage, green slime and fish guts was poured over Anne’s head as she attempted to figure out the codes to unlock the padlocks and retrieve the stars.

Anne managed to complete the first cage and bagged two stars.

However, in the second she had meal worms, cockroaches and grass hoppers poured over her head.

And it seems it all got too much for the star as she failed to retrieve the two stars in time.

As she stepped outside the cage, hosts Holly Willoughby and Dec Donnelly asked the star if she was okay to continue the trial.

A flustered Anne said: “Oh god. No I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. I’m sorry I can’t do it. I’m so sorry.”

Holly told her: “You tested yourself and you’ve done brilliantly. We’re proud of you.”

Anne then told the camera: “I did the first one in 90 seconds and I got two stars. Then it all went horribly pearshaped.

“I was like, ‘no, no more I can’t do it.'”

As she arrived back in Snake Rock, Anne told her fellow campmates what had happened during the trial.

She said: “They were dropping in cockroaches, grass hoppers and meal worms. There were meal worms everywhere.

“I came out and my bra was full of meal worms and I said, ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.'”

Rita Simons told her: “Anne that’s fine. You got two [stars].”

Viewers were in tears watching Anne’s trial from home and shared their thoughts on Twitter.
