It'll certainly be a good-looking camp...

He shook things up on Love Island this summer, including a shock re-entry after being dumped from the island in a move never seen before on the show.

And it looks like Love Island isn’t the only show bending the rules for Mike Thalassitis.

After the amount of airtime given to reality TV personalities in 2015, which was won by Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattinson, caused a backlash from fans, show bosses searched for more credible names last year.

However, a lacklustre run in 2016 may be behind the decision to rethink.

A source told The Sun: “The show got a real ribbing for the amount of airtime Vicky and Ferne received in 2015.

“Both were great but there was a feeling some of the older contestants weren’t getting a chance to impress.

“But reality stars create more social media buzz and also attract younger viewers. Mike is having early talks but the fact he’s even being considered shows a real change of tack.”

Former footballer Mike will be the first Islander from any series to brave the jungle if the rumours are true, after the 2017 edition of the hit show reached a wider audience than ever before.

No doubt after a lack of drama last year, which saw Gogglebox’s Scarlet Moffatt crowned, producers will be hoping playboy Mike can recreate past high profile romances like Joey Essex and model Amy Willerton, and of course the most iconic of all, Katie and Peter, if he joins the cast.

Just be warned, Mike – lazing around poolside in a luxurious villa is a world away from dinners of witchetty grubs and showers of cockroaches!
