“I want him to live…” WATCH: The Fall’s breath-taking new trailer

Crime thriller's comeback date has been revealed

| Updated:

Fans of The Fall won’t have to wait much longer to see how things pan out for Paul Spector and DS Stella Gibson, as the official start date for the third series has been revealed: September 29.

As well as the exciting news that there is just two weeks to go until the series launch, the official BBC Two Twitter account has released a chilling new trailer.

The 30-second clip sees murderer Paul, played by Jamie Dornan, being rushed to hospital after being shot at the end of the season two finale.

Machines beep as the hospital staff do their best to keep him alive, at the request of Stella, brought to life once again by Gillian Anderson.

She says: “I want him to live, so that he can spend the rest of his life in prison.”

It looks as drama-filled as the critically-acclaimed first two series, but will Paul make it?

The story so far has seen Paul chase down and kill a number of women, while Stella does her best to track the Belfast-based murderer.

Adding to the disturbing but brilliant nature of the thriller, Paul has two young children and a wife, from whom he must keep his murderous secrets.

So, what happens next? Will Paul survive and be sent to prison, and will Stella finally get justice for his victims? Tune into BBC Two on September 29 at 9pm to find out.
