Holly Willoughby suggests guest “lower her standards” in her quest for love

Viewers accused her of being up herself

On today’s This Morning two women came on the show claiming they couldn’t find love because they’re “too smart”.

Natasha Hopper and Andrea Gould said the men they have met aren’t on the same intellectual level as them, and that’s why they’re still single.

Natasha, 22, said she met one particularly memorable man who didn’t have some basic political knowledge.

She said: “I had one who didn’t know who Jeremy Corbyn was…”

She added: “I also had a date with a guy who thought that women should still be domesticated.”

Natasha explained to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that she doesn’t want men to be “intimidated” by her.

“I’m not saying I’m the brightest person ever or that people should be intimidated by me,” she said.

She continued: “I find a lot of the time conversations in dating are quite superficial as opposed to an intellectual discussion.”

Fellow guest Andrea, 41, also hasn’t had any luck with men.

She told Phil and Holly: “I tend to find there seems to be two types of men either geeky into gaming, which is not my kind of thing. Or on the opposite side they are laddish, drinking and I can’t have a converation with these guys.

Holly asked her whether she should “lower her standards”.

Andrea replied: “Sometimes I feel I have to downplay my achievements when I meet a man because I think it’s a bit intimidating.”

Viewers kicked off and called the women “shallow”.

One viewer tweeted: “Clever women? So the guy didn’t know who Jeremy Corbyn is?Maybe that’s just not important to him! She’s as shallow as the next.”

Another said: “Maybe you’re just too far ‘up yourself’ and that’s your problem? Just a thought.”

A third commented: “If those clever women get their heads out of their backsides they might meet a normal man such superiority!”

“‘Ooh I’m too intelligent for love’ smirks the most smug woman ever seen.. wind your neck in love and broaden your horizons..” said a fourth.

“No man is intimidated of you. You just think you’re better than them and that’s why you can’t find a boyfriend,” said a fifth.
