“Thank you to all of our incredible NHS nurses, we are so lucky to have you.”

Holly’s words attracted hundreds of replies across both social media platforms, with the vast majority of respondents echoing her appreciation for hard-working medical staff.

“I have upmost respect for anyone who sticks it out in the NHS,” observed one person.

“It’s a shame the government are constantly failing them and paying them pittance.”

Also among the replies were many coming from nurses who shared their career experiences.

One wrote: “You’re welcome! Happy to help! I’m a cancer nurse. I adore the patients.

“I’ve worked in paeds, teenage unit, now with adults, love them all and the science.

“My hospital also pays for the nurses to do their degree modules in cancer care, which enables us to help our patients more as there is more knowledge.

“I’m forever grateful for the NHS.”

Another remarked: “I work for the NHS as a nurse and I feel that all the nurses and doctors are under-appreciated. #proudtocare #nursingismylife.”

And a third medic contributed: “Thank you from a NHS nurse.

“It isn’t always easy, there are days you may want to quit and days that leave you so emotionally broken you think you’ll never get over it, but you do. But there are also amazing days too.

“I’m grateful to work with some amazing people #WeAreTheNHS.”

Thank you to all NHS heroes!
