Holly Willoughby returned to work on Celebrity Juice, hours after attending her grandmother’s funeral on Tuesday (12.03.19).
The 38-year-old presenter missed co-hosting This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield, with Rylan Clark-Neal taking her place on the sofa, as Holly revealed via her Instagram account that she was absent from the show because she was saying goodbye to her “beautiful Nan”.
John Barrowman, who was a guest on the episode of Celebrity Juice they were filming, along with his I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! pal Emily Atack, shared a backstage snap of him with their captain Holly and the Inbetweener’ star at the studio shooting the new series of Keith Lemon’s ITV2 panel show.
John captioned the Instagram selfie: “Team #Willy @hollywilloughby @emilyatackofficial and JB @imacelebrity @itv @celebjuiceofficial (sic)”
The new series sees Paddy McGuinness takeover as the opposing team’s captain, following Holly’s pal Fearne Cotton’s departure.
Earlier in the day, Holly – who won the coveted TV Personality of the Year accolade at last night’s (12.03.19) TRIC Awards – shared an emotional tribute to her late relative.
Alongside a photo of her with her grandmother, she wrote to her 5.3 million Instagram followers: “Today we say goodbye for a little while to my beautiful Nan… go and be with Grandad… he’s been waiting for you… love you… miss you…(sic)”
Holly’s fans were quick to offer their condolences with one user writing: “Sending all my love to you all xxx so sorry for your loss xx (sic)”
Another said: “So sorry for your loss Holly May your beautiful Nan rest in eternal peace flying high with the angels & reunited with your grandad. Sending love and hugs for you and your family (sic)”
The Dancing on Ice co-host has a very close bond with her family and often shares photos on social media with her mother Lynne.
Last week, Holly shared a picture of Lynne, 70, in a stunning selfie of the pair grinning, simply captioned: “Mumma”.
