Awkward moment guest confronts Eamonn Holmes about his weight – live on air!

We would not have enjoyed this

Good Morning Britain often has its fair share of awkward interviews – but this one might just take the, er, cake.

On Monday’s episode, presenters Kate Garraway and Eamonn Holmes were hosting a segment on whether doctors should tell patients to lose weight – and one of the experts confronted Eamonn about his size.

The two expert guests argued the point back and forth, with weight loss expert Steve insisting we should be warning larger patients.

He said: “If you are too fat, you are on death row.”

Kate then asked him what he would say to Eamonn.

Steve told the 58-year-old TV star: “I would say to Eamonn that he is too fat, and he is a heart attack waiting to happen.”

The Northern Irish star told him: “You know I agree with you.”

Steve went on to say Britain has become “lazy”, which Kate took umbrage to.

She said: “Hold on there, people at home will be thinking, ‘Are you kidding me?'”

But the guest was undeterred.

The shocking moment comes after the announcement that Good Morning Britain’s regular host, Piers Morgan, is taking his offensive interviewing skills on the road.

The motormouth presenter, 53, has flirted with US television on a number of occasions, cropping up on America’s Got Talent and their version of Celebrity Apprentice.

For a while, he even hosted his own chat show, Piers Morgan Live, on CNN.

But this will be the first time Americans have seen him in this particular role…

On-demand TV service BritBox – co-owned by the BBC and ITV – is to show an edited version of Good Morning Britain in the United States, which means both Piers and his GMB co-host Susanna Reid will be seen across the pond.

While Susanna has maintained a dignified silence over the development, Piers wasted no time in bigging up the news on social media.

Retweeting an announcement by the Hollywood gossip website Deadline.com, he wrote: “BREAKING: Good Morning Britain comes to America.”

Eamonn might not mind hearing it – but we do! We love you just as you are, Mr Holmes.
