Gogglebox contributor Andrew Bennett is in hospital recovering from an assault over the weekend, according to reports.
The Channel 4 cast member – who shares a South Shields sofa with pal Fawn on the show – is said by The Sun to have sustained “some really nasty injuries” from the attack on Saturday morning.
It is believed the event organiser was jumped while walking with family and friends down the street in Sunderland.
An unnamed source said to be close to the reality star told the newspaper’s website: “He’s really shocked but is determined to catch the person who attacked him and reported it to police the next morning from hospital.
“Andrew has been asking anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to get in touch with police.:
According to police, it seems Andrew may be familiar with his assailant.
Northumbria Police are reported to have told The Sun: “At 11.18am on Saturday December 1, we received a report of an assault on Vine Place, Sunderland.
“A 43-year-old man was pushed over and suffered minor injuries. He was taken to hospital as a precaution and officers later spoke with him at his home address.
“Police believe the offender was known to the victim and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
Flamboyant Andrew and Fawn took their place on the much-loved couch potato critic show in September.
They were immediately welcomed to the Gogglebox family by fans on Facebook, with calls for regular appearances from #fawndrew.
“Definitely need more Fawn and Andrew. Sooo funny,” said one commenter.
“Fab fab and fab, Andrew has the best personality and will only continue to shine and make us all love him he’s like sunshine and we all love a Little bit of that,” added another viewer.
ED! has approached the production company that makes Gogglebox for Channel 4 for comment.
