Singer apprehended at airport

A member of girl group Fifth Harmony has been charged with possession of marijuana at a US airport.

Tut-tut-tut!

Lauren Jauregui, 20, was allegedly caught with the drug at Washington Dulles International Airport on Tuesday.

TMZ reported that the American singer was stopped at a checkpoint when a security officer found what appeared to be a bag of marijuana in her carry-on luggage.

A police insider confirmed Lauren had been charged with possession of marijuana and released on summons.

“Lauren was stopped at a TSA checkpoint and forced to submit to a secondary search, when a TSA staff member found what appeared to be a bag of marijuana in her carry-on luggage.

“Cops were flagged down in the terminal and they promptly arrested the singer.”

Lauren’s lawyer issued a statement to deny that she’d been officially arrested.

Dina LaPolt said: “Lauren Jauregui was not arrested and detained as reported, but simply given a citation for possession of marijuana and released on her own recognizance.

“She will address the matter appropriately through the legal system. This will not interfere with any future scheduled performances or activities.”

A post on the official Twitter account of Fifth Harmony said the band were due to perform at the Vevo Fun Pop festival in Brazil on Wednesday.

Fifth Harmony formed in 2012 on the American version of The X Factor, which Simon Cowell appeared on as a judge.

Lauren and her four bandmates – Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Camila Cabello – had originally auditioned as solo artists and finished third on the show as a group.

They have scored five UK Top 40 singles, including Work From Home which reached number two earlier this year, and brought their 7/27 world tour to the UK in October.
