Things got pretty awkward during the American Music Awards last night.
Twitter users have hit out at model Gigi Hadid for her “racist” and “disrespectful” impression of the soon-to-be First Lady Melania Trump.
The 21-year-old co-hosted the show with Jay Pharoah and said how she had been working on the perfect impression.
She then put on a Melania-style pout and dodgy Easten European accent saying: “I love my husband, President Barack Obama. And our children Sasha and Malia”

“That’s spot on,” said Jay.
The joke was clearly a reference to all of the accusations made about Melania, with people saying that she copied a speech made by Michelle Obama.

One user was fuming that Maybelline has sponsored “bullying” as Gigi is the face of the brand.
Yikes!
Another said: “Never knew who Gigi Hadid was before tonight. After 37 minutes of enduring her insufferable personality, I wish I still didn’t #AMAs”
Someone even tweeted her mother to tell her how appalled she was: “…disgusting horrible racist rant by your daughter Gigi you should be ashamed.”
We’re sure she didn’t mean it in that way!
Her pals made sure they tweeted their support for the star.
Lady Gaga showed her support of both Gigi and boyfriend Zayn Malik saying: “…have fun tonight u two gorgeous kids! Celebrate you’re on top of the world!”
Bella Thorne said he body was “lookin Fire”.
John Legend’s wife Chrissy couldn’t get enough of Gigi and tweeted: “you are killing this!!!”

Her bezzie and Taylor Swift crew member Karlie Kloss said: “Good luck tonight @GiGiHadid! I’ll be your loudest fan…”
Luckily, Gigi still has other options if he hosting work dries up.
