Geri Horner has broken her silence on her bandmate Mel B’s claims that the two had a secret romp during their Spice Girls days and follow-up rumours that their fling lasted for a year.
The singer, who is married to Red Bull Racing Formula 1 boss Christian Horner and mum to son Monty, two, and daughter Bluebell, 12, released a statement yesterday.
Through a spokesperson, she said: “It has been very disappointing to read about all these rumours again, especially on Mother’s Day of all days.”
They added: “Geri loves the Spice Girls: Emma, Melanie, Melanie and Victoria. She would like [the fans] to know that what has been reported recently is simply not true and has been very hurtful to her family.”

And, for those who were worried about how the revelations would affect the girls’ upcoming tour, the singer revealed: “Moving forward, Geri can’t wait to see the girls and all the fans on the tour, have an amazing time with everyone, and make some new memories.”
Ent Daily revealed last week that Mel B caused controversy when she appeared on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories. The host asked her: “You were coming here to be brutally honest – did or didn’t you sleep with Geri Halliwell? Did you sleep with her?”
As a shocked Mel C looked on from the audience, Mel B revealed: “Yeah. We all slept in a bed together, but not like that, all of us.”
After further probing from Piers, which saw the outspoken presenter ask: “Did you sleep with Geri like that?” Mel smiled and nodded.
Clearly shocked, he spluttered: “Yes? Really?!”

“She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house with her husband,” Mel said. Mel C added: “I don’t know anything! This is all new to me!”
After the story hit the headlines, a friend told The Sun: “Mel messaged the girls to tell them about what she had said after filming the interview, but she didn’t even say sorry.”
The pal added: “She needs to do some serious grovelling to make up with Geri. This isn’t something she’s going to forget easily.”
Sources told the Mail On Sunday is was “lust at first sight” when Geri and Mel, then 18 and 21, first met in 1994.
“It was in the very early days of the Spice Girls and their relationship lasted far longer than one night – it was at least 12 months,” the insider claimed.
