George Michael’s final resting place finally revealed

Pop legend will finally be buried

He died three months ago but it’s only now that George Michael will be buried.

According to reports, the pop legend, who was found dead at his home on Christmas Day, will be buried in a plot next to his beloved mum Lesley in Highgate Cemetery.

Since Christmas, the plot that was overgrown has now been cleaned up in preparation for the burial.

Friends say George would have wanted to be buried with his mother, to whom he was very close before her death from cancer in 1997.

“Lesley was George’s world so it is fitting that they should now be together,” a source told The Mirror.

It’s believed George will be buried in a Greek Orthodox style ceremony for immediate family and close friends.

However, his family are considering a memorial on or close to Mother’s Day in two weeks, as it was a day he took very seriously.

“George would always make a big deal out of Mother’s Day. He loved her so much and he would spend a lot of time talking to her there.

“The cemetery has a very special place in his heart.”

Last week a coroner who ruled that George died of natural causes and had a dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis – a disease of the heart muscle which affects how blood is able to pump around the body – a fatty liver.

George’s funeral is being arranged by his sister Melanie, 55 and will be attended by George’s ex Kenny Goss.

Although he has been left out of the arrangements, new boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, who found George on Christmas Day, is understood to have been invited to pay his last respects.

Geri Horner, who this week wept on This Morning talking about their close relationship, is expected to do a reading at his memorial.
