Marnie Simpson’s lack of knowledge on Celebrity Ghost Hunt

Someone needs to brush up on general knowledge

In a hilarious new preview from reality show Celebrity Ghost Hunt, Geordie Shore’s Marnie Simpson has revealed a serious lack of general knowledge.

In the first episode of the spooky new series, hosted by Rylan Clark-Neal, we see Marnie – as well as Marcel Somerville from Love Island and Bobby Norris from TOWIE – exploring a decommissioned secret nuclear bunker.

There have been many reports of ghostly sightings at the underground bunker, and the group encounter a few for themselves.

In one genius moment from the show, we see the group enter the radio room, where politicians would’ve hidden in the event of a nuclear war.

When they spot a mannequin by the radio, Bobby shouts: “Shut up it’s Maggie!”

“What?” says a confused Marnie, 26, who has apparently never heard of Britain’s PM, who was in power from 1979-1990.

“It’s Margaret Thatcher!” Bobby says, but Marnie is none the wiser, adding: “Who’s Margaret Thatcher?”

Bobby explains: “The Prime Minister – the old one? I mean she died, but she was our Prime Minister. The first ever one.”

We think he means the first ever female PM, but the group don’t seem to notice, as Marcel repeats: “The first ever one?”

The group then try to communicate with the late Tory, who died in 2013, as Bobby says: “If there’s any spirit here, especially you Margaret, can you please give us a sign?”

Bobby claims he can hear her talking but Marnie says: “I think she’s got better things to do. I don’t think she’s interested.”

In another clip we watch Bobby, 31, freaking out at what he thinks is a bird in the next room.

Things start out OK, as he calmly says to his ghostly surroundings: “We just want to communicate with you, we wish you no harm.”

When nothing happens, the group try to move to the next room but Marnie says: “I don’t know if I like this,” and they all run back.

That’s when the TOWIE star gets scared over a noise, shouting: “I don’t like birds and it sounds like something flapping. I can’t do birds in any sense.”

Marnie then points out: “It sounds like a printer.”

Marcel, 32, confirms it’s a “machine or something”, but Bobbie isn’t convinced, pleading with the non-ghost: “Please don’t be an ostrich or something – the sound of them wings…”

Luckily, it wasn’t an ostrich.

5Star commissioned a full series of the spooky show, fronted by Rylan, 29, after the spooky live special last year. He’ll be joined by different celebrities every week, as they investigate paranormal activity at haunted buildings around the UK.

Celebrity Ghost Hunt begin next Tuesday at 10pm on 5STAR.
