Gemma Collins warned about having weight loss injections

Stick to healthy options, GC!

Experts have warned TOWIE star Gemma Collins that she could seriously damage her health with her latest weight loss fad.

Gemma had been keeping fans up to date with her new diet and fitness regime, posting videos of herself hiking in the Hollywood Hills and sharing details of her healthy diet.

The star earned praise from her followers as she posted swimsuit selfies, showing off her whopping three stone weight loss.

However, it’s now been revealed that the star is also having injections that help to suppress her appetite.

SkinnyJab says Gemma’s “weight loss secret” has “officially been revealed”, crediting the jabs as “the force” behind her “amazing” weight loss.

The star even has her own page on the brand’s website, telling the GC’s fans they can “lose weight with Gemma Collins”.

They added: “We have been working with Gemma to help her lose those stubborn pounds.”

While the company did admit that the £250 jabs aren’t a “fast fix”, but a “kick start to a healthier lifestyle”, diet and fitness experts disagree.

The injections claim to work by “removing hunger from the equation”, while regulating blood sugar levels and helping the body turn stored fat into energy.

Nutritionist Ruth Tongue told The Sun that the jab’s main ingredient, liraglutide, is designed for use with people who are “severely obese” or suffering from type 2 diabetes, “not those who want to lose a few pounds”.

Ruth said: “It works by increasing the amount of insulin produced by the pancreas, thereby reducing blood sugar levels. If your blood sugar levels are out of the normal range, you risk dizziness, fainting, nausea and a hypoglycaemic episode, which can be fatal.”

She added: “Other common side effects include stomach pain, gallbladder disease and kidney problems. In the long term, studies have shown links between this drug and risk of thyroid cancer and severe pancreatitis.”

Ent Daily has contacted SkinnyJab for comment.

It comes as Gemma showed off the results – and bruises – of her latest surgical procedure.

Boasting she would “never look tired again”, Gemma revealed that she’d had filler injected under her eyes.
