TOWIE star Gemma Collins has hit back at Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood after he apparently took a pop at her aspirations to appear on the BBC One show.

He said her background on reality TV meant she wasn’t high calibre enough to partake.

After falling off the stage at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards in October, La Collins joked that it might give her leverage for landing a spot on the hit Saturday prime-time entertainment show.

At the time, Craig wrote in his Woman column: “Gemma Collins would be fun on the show, but it’s not very often that we have reality stars take to the ballroom.

“We generally have people of a higher calibre than that.”

She’s now had a word with The Sun, telling them: “I find his comment funny. I’m not low rent, Craig.”

“We’ve all got to start somewhere and it’s a shame to just knock someone out of giving them a chance because they don’t think I’m high calibre enough.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth but I get 2.2million hits on my social media.

“If anything, I’d probably bring a different audience to the BBC.

“It’ll be called the BGC by the time I’ve finished with rumba-ing it up.”

Ha, well, while Gemma – who claims she was once crowned South-East England Champion for dancing – is doubtless not wrong about attracting a possible new crowd to the show, we think Auntie might have a thing or two to say about her re-brand!

We don’t reckon GC is really all that cross with Craig though – in fact she seems pretty chill with the whole world, after spending a cosy Christmas in the company of Jame Arg Argent.

Perhaps she’ll have even bigger fish to fry next year than TV entertainment shows…
