Pregnant Gemma Atkinson has shared her upset that her late father won’t be able to meet her baby.

The former Emmerdale actress has been feeling emotional at the thought of her dad not being around to see her child grow up.

Gemma sadly lost her father David to a heart attack when she was just 17.

The 34-year-old shared a message on Instagram, which read: “My dad taught me everything, except how to live without him.”

Gemma captioned her post with: “It dawned on me today the wonderful relationship I had with my grandparents when I was growing up, and then it hit me my dad won’t get to meet his Grandchild.”

She added that she blamed her pregnancy hormones for making her feel so emotional.

“Seems crazy… I blame the pregnancy hormones but today has been a bloody rollercoaster. Fits of laughter to sobbing. Thankfully, I had cookies,” she continued.

Friends and fans sent Gemma some words of support.

Her former Emmerdale co-star Amy Walsh commented: “Love you 💖.”

One follower added: “Love you. He’s watching down on you super proud ❤️.”

Another wrote: “💔 Sending you love Gem. Genes are amazing – you will see your dad in your baby and it is so comforting. Biggest hug ❤️.”

Gemma is expecting her first child with Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez.
