Gary Lucy spills secrets on the Footballers’ Wives comeback!

Yes, you DID read that right

| Updated:

Loose Women got us feeling all nostalgic last week as it reunited Gary Lucy and Susie Amy, who played Kyle and Chardonnay in the incomparable Footballers’ Wives back in the noughties.

They even recreated a scene from their ridiculous wedding – their twist on Sleeping Beauty – and it was everything a die-hard FW fan could have wanted it to be.

Well, now there’s even more exciting news. Yes, yes, yes, it is what you’re hoping it will be.

Gary, who’s now back in his old Hollyoaks home, has dropped a major hint that the OTT ITV hit will be making a comeback.

Hold onto something, and remember to breathe!

When asked by Now magazine about the possibility of a revival, he said: “Maybe in some form… watch this space is all I can say.

“It was an outrageous and fantastic thing to be a part of, so a reunion may be on the cards, you’ll have to wait and see.

“Kyle was last seen running from the police, so I have no idea what happened to them. Just sit tight and everything I said will make sense.”

Right, so this is basically an out and out confirmation!

To those of you too young to remember, the drama focused on the players of fictional Premier League football club, Earls Park F.C. and their partners.

Chardonnay and Kyle were like early days Posh and Becks.

Speaking to the Loose ladies about her time on the fabulously cheesy drama, Susie told the panel: “It was so fun. It was one of my favourite jobs. I feel so lucky to be involved in that so young, Gary was 19 and I was 20.

“I remember when I first went in for the audition I was like ‘do we know who is playing Kyle’ and when they said it was Gary I knew him from Hollyoaks and I was like I really want to get this because he’s absolutely gorgeous!”

A stunned Gary said: “Sweet. I’ll take that.”

He then told the panel: “When we did the show we didn’t know what we were doing but then it just went down a storm, it was just massive.

“We clicked straight away on the show. It was an amazing time.”

Host Andrea McLean asked the star if there was any possibility of the two reuniting on screen. She even wondered if there was chance Susie could join the cast of Hollyoaks.

He remained tight-lipped about Footballers’ Wives at that point – the TEASE! – and instead discussed Hollyoaks, saying: “I would definitely want her on Hollyoaks!”

You could immediately see from viewers’ reactions on Twitter how much love still exists for the show – and why a comeback is right.

One fan wrote: “OMG! Chardoney and Kyle reunited on #Loosewomen!!!! My god, I miss #Footballerswives might be time to dig out the boxsets! YASSSSS!!!!” [sic]

Another added: “Great seeing #Kyle & #Chardonnays #wedding recreated on @loosewomen @SusieAmy @Gary_Lucy that was fab!!” [sic]

“ChardonnayandKylePascoeForever,” another said. [sic]

Unfortunately, Susie’s character was killed off in series three following a battle with anorexia, so working Chardonnay back in would be something of a challenge for the writers – although stranger things have happened in soap!
