Gary Barlow crushes any hope of a Take That reunion

Say it isn't so!

Cover the ears of your teenage self now, because all dreams you had of Take That reuniting as a five-piece have been crushed – by none other than Gary Barlow himself!

Talking to The Mirror, he said: “I wouldn’t put money on that. Don’t waste your money. I would say there’s no chance.”

The boy band are currently a threesome, with Gary, Mark Owen and Howard Donald as members.

Robbie Williams (of course!) left the band in 1995, while Jason Orange departed in 2014.

But when it was announced this week that Take That will be releasing a Greatest Hits album, followed by a worldwide tour, fans were VERY excited at the prospect of the original band possibly getting back together.

They initially split 22 years ago, later reuniting without Robbie in 2005, although he briefly joined them again in 2010.

“All I do each night is pray…for a Take That reunion,” wrote one mega fan.

Another added, “22 years ago, I was 6 years old and I still remember this day (they reunited). Since the reunion in 2006 I haven’t missed a tour and I love these boys more than ever!”

Yep…remember those days before Robbie and Jason broke our hearts? The dance routines… the posters… *sigh*

Mark, however, was a little more optimistic than Gary about the prospect of teaming up with Robbie and Jason again.

“I wouldn’t say there’s no chance, but I’ve always said that,” he teased.

Back in December, Robbie also said he would be up for a reunion – but it wasn’t exactly something he was counting on anytime soon.

“I’m in if it’s a five-piece. I’d probably be in even if it isn’t,” he told OK!, before adding, “That being said, that’s not on any calendar for the next five years.”

Yet Gary, 47, has confirmed that the greatest hits album will retain some of the band’s best-loved songs, whether Robbie and Jason are joining them or not.

“We’ve reimagined some of the songs, but not all of them. You’ve got to be careful with these things. If you take them too far, you’re destroying people’s memories,” he said on The One Show.

“We’ve tried to be respectful to the music, but just putting a load of music on an album wasn’t enough for us. We wanted to just go back and have a look through it and try to make it sound better.”
