Meredith Vieira Lands New Series

Fans have a lot to say about the news.

Former Today show co-host Meredith Vieira is coming back to TV!

The longtime TV news journalist will be launching a new show on PBS that's all about books.

The eight-part series, called The Great American Read, will spotlight the 100 most-loved novels to come out of the United States.The show is set to debut in May and will feature appearances from such notables as Margaret Atwood, Morgan Freeman, Gayle King, George R. R. Martin, Shaquille O’Neal and Sarah Jessica Parker.

According to TV Newser, the show "will take viewers on a journey across the country to uncover the nation’s 100 most-loved novels, the people who love them and their authors.”

The show will air throughout the summer, and will feature companion events that viewers can attend online and in real-life.

Fans were overjoyed to hear that Meredith, who co-hosted Today from 2006 to 2011 and moderated The View from 1997 to 2006, is coming back to TV.

A Twitter user wrote, "Very nice to have her back, a great lady."

A fan on Facebook commented, "She has such a beautiful voice. Excellent addition to the PBS family."

Another said, "Excellent choice! I love her. She's so classy and knowledgeable. Good Job PBS!!"

"Looking forward to her and this! She's got a sharp, witty mind," another wrote.

And one very excited fan simply commented, "YAY MEREDITH!"

Meredith isn't the only former Today star who has moved to PBS to host a documentary-style show.

Ann Curry recently premiered a series on the public television network about people finding lost loved ones called We'll Meet Again.

The Great American Read is set to debut May 22 on PBS.
