Former Corrie star Keith Duffy and his wife set upon by gang of SIX

It was a completely unprovoked attack

What kind of vile, vicious world do we live in, where our favourite boyband members can be abused and threatened in a public place?

Not a nice one, that’s for sure.

Okay, so Boyzone may have committed a few pop crimes in their time – their version of When The Going Gets Tough is an irritating abomination!

But that doesn’t warrant violence.

And yet, some brainless thugs have taken it upon themselves to round up on Boyzone legend Keith Duffy and his wife on a night out and terrorise them.

According to shocking reports, the Irish funny man, actor and singer was surrounded and attacked by a group of men at an event in Ireland over the weekend.

The one time Corrie star was living it up after the premiere of son Jay’s film Handsome Devil at the Audi Film Festival Dublin at Lilie’s Bordello in Dublin.

During the evening Keith and his wife Lisa were confronted by a gaggle of guys in the club’s VIP area.

What began as verbal abuse towards Lisa led to violence when Keith stepped in to put an end to the gang’s revolting behaviour.

But in response, the rowdy fellas turned on Keith and a fracas took place, leaving the Dublin singer badly shaken.

“Six guys surrounded him in the club after Lisa came looking for him [after going to find security],” a source told The Mirror.

“She was upset by the behaviour of these guys. He got a few digs – there were a few of them. There was six on one.”

Eyewitnesses called the police but by the time they arrived, Keith and has wife had gone home, and the vile gang had disappeared.

An onlooker added: “Lisa was really upset. They just set on Keith, there was no reason for it, it was unprovoked.”

Even though it has made a good story, a spokesman for Duffy said the incident had been blown out of proportion.

“Keith was back at work the next day. He’s fine. It was just a minor thing. He’s OK.”
