Footballer’s Wives stars Gary Lucy, who played Kyle, and Susie Amy, who played Chardonnay, reunited on screen for the first time in 15 years during today’s Loose Women.
The much-loved characters were husband and wife in the hit series.
The drama focused on the players of fictional Premier League football club, Earls Park F.C and their partners.
The pair threw their arms around each other as they were reunited.
The former co-stars were quick to start reminiscing about their time on the hit series.
Speaking about the show Susie told the panel: “It was so fun. It was one of my favourite jobs. I feel so lucky to be involved in that so young, Gary was 19 and I was 20.
“I remember when I first went in for the audition I was like ‘do we know who is playing Kyle’ and when they said it was Gary I knew him from Hollyoaks and I was like I really want to get this because he’s absolutely gorgeous!”
A stunned Gary said: “Sweet. I’ll take that.”
Gary, 35, told the panel: “When we did the show we didn’t know what we were doing but then it just went down a storm, it was just massive.
“We clicked straight away on the show. It was an amazing time.”
Host Andrea McLean then asked the star if there was any possibility of the two reuniting on screen. She even wondered if there was chance Susie could join the cast of Hollyoaks.
Gary said: “I would definitely want her on Hollyoaks!”
Gary and Susie, who first appeared on the show in 2002, then recreated their hilarious wedding scene from the series.
Gary walked up to Susie, who was laid on a red lounge chair with a bouquet of flowers, and picked her up as the two acted out the iconic scene.
The panel and viewers were thrilled.
One wrote on Twitter: “OMG! Chardoney and Kyle reunited on
#Loosewomen!!!! My god, I miss #Footballerswives might be time to dig out the boxsets! YASSSSS!!!!”
Another added: “Great seeing
#Kyle & #Chardonnays #wedding recreated on @loosewomen @SusieAmy @Gary_Lucy that was fab!!”
“ChardonnayandKylePascoeForever,” another said.
The series ended in 2006 but Susie’s character was killed off in series three following a battle with anorexia and Gary left the show after three series.
Now more than a decade later Gary has returned to the soap that made him famous, Hollyoaks.
A spokesperson for the Channel 4 soap confirmed the news and revealed he has been given an 18-month contract.
A source said that bosses wanted to bring him back because he’s a hit with viewers.
“Producers have some massive storylines planned for Gary. He will be at the centre of the action. They know how talented he is and also how popular he is with viewers.
“Because he’ll be back for at least 18 months it will be possible for him to have some really meaty storylines.”
