KFC launches new breakfast menu with Chicken AM, bacon rolls, and coffee

Will you be tucking in?

Fried chicken: room for it any time, any place, anywhere in your life? Then the latest addition to chicken chain KFC’s menu should make you cluckin’ happy.

The company has launched its new breakfast menu, which includes the catchy Chicken AM: a piece of the Colonel’s special chicken, smoked bacon, a freshly cracked egg and cheese in a floured bun – for £2.49.

If you can’t get your head around fried chicken lining your stomach first thing, there’s a bacon roll, priced at £1.75, and a bacon and egg roll for £1.99.

These morning options are completed by a crispy hash brown and a cup of Seattle’s Best Coffee.

Now here’s the less good news: currently the morning menu is being rolled out across just 10 restaurants, between 6am and 10.30am.

Those stores are the Brixton, Cobham, Hounslow Central and Victoria Station branches in London, the Argyle Street, Braehead and Linwood restaurants in Glasgow, and the Llandudno and Newtown KFCs in Wales.

Apparently, chicken for breakfast is already all the rage elsewhere in the world: In Indonesia, a bowl of chick porridge sets people up for the day while, in Mexico, corn tortillas with pulled chicken are dished up.

Jack Hinchliffe, Head of Innovation at KFC UK and Ireland says: “Following a successful start in Beaconsfield, we are excited to begin rolling out our breakfast menu across the UK.

“Chicken for breakfast might feel like a novelty, but there’s plenty of evidence it can become a breakfast choice here too.

“After all, whilst Colonel Sanders’ recipe might be a secret – the nation’s love for chicken certainly isn’t, so why not have it early?

“The Chicken AM is a delicious way to start the day and we are sure KFC fans will love it.”

We’re not convinced… happy to let the chicken come a meal or two after the egg in our daily diet.
