Fans gutted as Ben Shephard announces he’s quit hosting popular show

He's filmed the show for nine seasons

Ben Shephard has announced he’s quit hosting Goals on Sunday after nine seasons.

The Tipping Point presenter hosts the sports show alongside former footballer Chris Kamara.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Ben thanked viewers and said his experience on the show has been “unbelievable”.

He wrote: “Morning all- So after 9 seasons + nearly 400 shows the time has come to hang up my @GoalsOnSunday boots.

“I’ve loved working with @chris_kammy + know we’ll have more adventures to come!

“Thanks to our viewers, guests, + @SkySports it’s has, as Kammy would say been ‘Unbelievable!'”

Fans are gutted and shared their thoughts.

One person said: “No! This makes me sad,” while another wrote: “Such a shame that, good luck in your future projects Ben. Enjoyed the Sunday banter with Kammy and the guests.”

A third tweeted: “Oooohhhh Ben noooooo !!!!! Won’t be the same without you two together. (sic)”

It comes after Ben left fans panicking as they thought he announced his hit game show Tipping Point was cancelled for good.

In a video he shared on Instagram celebrating the end of series 10, he confused the show’s fans.

Sharing a video that showed him walking onto the set, Ben, 44, wrote a heartfelt message.

He said: “And it’s over!!! @itvtippingpoint series 10 After 165 eps, over 17 thousand questions, 665 contestants, and 100k litres of coffee is a wrap!!!!

“Thank you to all the incredible contestants we’ve had, the amazing team that make the show and the ever generous @itv who over the years have helped us give away more than £4 million!!!

“The good news is we are back filming series 6 of #LuckyStars here next week – and series 5 #LuckyStars will be on air in a few weeks time!! Right I need a drink!! (sic)”

But he added: “#tippingpoint – it’s not over for good!!!! Just finished this series – we will be back fingers crossed for series 11!! (Sic)”
