Fans fight ‘in front of kids’ as chaos-hit Spice Girls tour reaches Sunderland

Women brawl at stadium show

| Updated:

The Spice Girls tour descended into chaos as it arrived in Sunderland on Friday night, with fans fighting amongst themselves at the city’s Stadium Of Light.

The altercation, which took place during the concert, saw two women “scream” in each other’s faces before they began to push each other.

A video – in which you can hear Mel C and Emma Bunton talking on stage – shows one woman falling over the back of a seat before the other woman pulls her up by her hair.

Surrounded by shocked concert-goers and children, the brawl continued, with one of the women’s friends getting involved and throwing a punch over her friend’s head.

The Sun reported that onlookers tried to break up the fight, while others, like Spice Girls fan Gemma Coburn, looked on in horror.

She revealed: “These are grown women, it’s a disgrace. It’s not something I’d expect to see at as Spice Girls concert.”

She added: “There were kids there in front of us. It totally goes against the girl power thing the Spice Girls champion. I just saw them kicking off all of a sudden. They were shouting and the next thing they were really going for each other.”

She also revealed that, while the video is only a few seconds long, the fight “went in for ages”, with security not reaching them for “a long time”.

The continued: “More than 50,000 people were in the Stadium of Light for the concert last night and there was just one ejection. The vast majority behaved impeccably and enjoyed a fantastic night of music.”

The brawl is the latest in a long line of incidents to hit the Spice Girls reunion tour.

The first few dates were beset with technical problems that left sobbing attendees demanding refunds because they “couldn’t hear anything”.
