Fans delighted as Ruth Langsford reveals rescue dog is on the mend

Maggie had to make a trip to the vets earlier this week

| Updated:

Fans of This Morning presenters Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were concerned earlier this week when the married TV couple revealed their beloved dog Maggie had a health worry.

The pet – a Collie cross rescue dog – took a trip to the vet a few days ago after her celebrity owners discovered she had sustained an injury that required medical attention.

It turned out that a wound she had picked up made it necessary for Maggie to wear a protective cone to stop her from licking it.

Both Ruth and Eamonn were desperately sympathetic about Maggie’s discomfort in having to wear the medical collar.

But thankfully she wasn’t required to suffer it for too long – and looked far more comfortable after it was removed.

“Poor girl,” Eamonn commented on Friday after uploading a snap of Maggie in her huge pink collar to Instagram.

Ruth added in a clip of a somewhat despondent Maggie shared on social media: “I hope she knows it’s for her own good… she’s not impressed!”

But just over a day later, Ruth had better news to reveal to followers. By the time the clock struck Strictly O’Clock, Maggie was free of her Collar of Shame and was relaxing without a care in the world.

A cheery Ruth wrote: “She’s in her happy place by the fire watching @bbcstrictly with me! Love her SO much!”

Her followers were delighted to know Maggie was improving.

“So pleased she’s on the mend,” remarked one.

“Aw bless her! There’s nothing better than seeing your animals relaxed and happy,” cooed another well-wisher.

Another fan praised Maggie’s owners: “That is the sign of a doggie who feels safe, secure and happy.

“You have given a rescue doggie a wonderful home.”
