Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams downed bottles of water, America Ferrera munched on a burger and James Corden tried on a cheerleading outfit.
Hollywood has been gearing up for one its biggest nights and the celebs went on social media to show fans how they were getting ready; in some cases with hilarious results.
British comedian Corden is up for an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Talk Series for The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Always game for a laugh he tweeted a photo of himself in a midriff-baring cheerleading outfit.
He wrote: “I’m the only nominee at the #Emmys wearing this right now!”
Fellow comedian Amy Schumer went on Instagram to show a picture of her getting a beauty treatment with paper strips on her face.
Not to be outdone Kristen Bell posted a photo of herself doing the same thing. She also showed fans what she looked like in her bathrobe getting her hair done.
“Caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and said, confidently, ‘This looks GREAT guys! Let’s go!’
“Then was informed we’re only half way done. Oh well. #emmys.”
Superstore actress America Ferrara seems to have had no fear of getting into her gown for the night.
She snapped an Instagram photo of a hamburger, with the comment: “Just a light bite before I get into my Emmy dress.”
Blackish star Tracee Ellis Ross went on Instagram to show fans that she was giddy with excitement.
The funny woman – who is the first African-American to be nominated for an Outstanding Leading Actress in a Comedy Emmy in 30 years – posted a video of her singing and dancing to Sia’s Chandelier during a photo shoot.
She wrote: “#TodaysMood.”
Later the daughter of Diana Ross posed on a counter while looking stunning in a red dressing gown before she slipped into her red carpet outfit.
Her co-star Anthony Anderson shared an Instagram video of himself with an eye mask on his face. He said: “I’m sitting here with this cooling pad on my face because bags under my eyes are bigger than my luggage!”
Other stars who couldn’t resist sharing their behind-the-scenes photos included Emmys presenter and late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, Project Runway star Heidi Klum, Ray Donovan actor Liev Schreiber, Modern Family mum Julie Bowen and The People v O.J. Simpson actor Sterling K Brown, who showed off his rock hard abs.
