Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle’s fate uncertain after cliff drama

She's driven to the edge by his rejection

Character on ITV soap Emmerdale are dropping like flies.

After the trauma of its special ‘Time Twist’ week saw at least one villager bite the dust, it looks like another favourite could be going.

Charity Dingle is not a happy bunny and it seems her ultimate rejection might send her over the edge.

It all started with smiles as well.

She had just agreed to leave the Yorkshire village with her ex-husband Cain, to start a new life in France, where their daughter Debbie is living.

Charity gets the hump though when Cain gets cold feet about the whole absconding idea and asks her to stop the car.

Realising that he wasn’t really over Holly Barton’s death, Cain has an overwhelming urge to be with Moira, his estranged wife.

Saying that he no longer wants to be with Charity, he runs back to Emmerdale.

Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain, said about the scenes: “He [Cain] has this bolt-from-the-blue moment of clarity: ‘What the hell am I doing in the car with Charity? I should be back with Moira’.

“He’s just getting annoyed by Charity too, but I don’t think that’s the reason.

“It’s an epiphany moment for him where he realises he’s making a really bad decision and his heart belongs in Emmerdale with his ex-wife.”

Charity is stunned and her thoughts turn to a darker purpose.

She drives to the edge of a cliff and we see her car disappear over the edge.

Police arrive to tell Cain the news that they have found Charity’s car at the bottom of a lake. Has she made the ultimate sacrifice to her love for Cain?

Jeff told Digital Spy: “Probably about five per cent of him thinks Charity is dead.

“But in the main, Cain thinks that it’s Charity playing games and she’s totalled his car to get back at him.”

Charity playing games? Surely he doesn’t think his manipulative ex has pulled a fast one?

There are no surprises when Charity Dingle is involved.
