ED! EXCLUSIVE: Arlene Phillips on her ‘return’ as a judge to Strictly Come Dancing

Dance guru says she is the obvious candidate to replace Len Goodman - she's not wrong!

Arlene Phillips says she reckons she is the best and most obvious candidate to replace Len Goodman when he quits the show at the end of this series.

The strictly legend, who was controversially dumped from the Show back in 2009, in favour of younger choice Alesha Dixon, says that she would jump at the chance of returning to the TV juggernaut if she was asked.

She even says that the public would love to see her make her return, telling ED! at the London Lifestyle Awards: “Dammit I would be brilliant to replace Len on strictly. I like to think I’m the obvious choice.”

Arlene, 73, added: “Everyone always tells me that they miss me from the show – I get it every day when I’m in my trackies and trainers in Budgens. They say they really miss me on the panel and would love to see me back on the show.”

But Arlene says she’s not going to be waiting for the phone to ring to be asked back. She’s happily moved on since leaving he show.

“The thing is the show is great and I love it  so much, but I don’t depend on the show!

I’ve got so much going on.”

Len Goodman announced in July that this current run on the show would be his last, adding it was time to make way for a new head judge.

Someone at the BBC please make that call to Ms P – now!
