EastEnders SPOILER: Derek is verbally abused and Johnny does nothing to help

It's all getting on top of the Square resident

EastEnders Derek Harkinsin isn’t having a good week.

First a visit from Minute Mart head office leaves a dark secret from his past coming back to haunt him, and then he’s viciously insulted by Keegan Baker.

And to top it all off, Johnny Carter watches the whole attack and does nothing to help.

When Yolande Trueman turns up with news that puts his job at risk, Derek is a little shaken up.

Then local hooligan Keegan Baker appears and has a go at Derek, using particularly nasty language and making Derek feel very frightened indeed.

It turns out Johnny has witnessed the whole exchange and didn’t step in to come to Derek’s defence.

As Derek confronts Johnny about his failure to act, a guilty Johnny tries his best to make things up to Derek, but will it be enough?

Tracking Derek down to his bedsit, it soon becomes clear Derek’s battling some inner demons that are causing him to struggle.

As Johnny talks to him, Derek reveals he’s leaving Walford as he feels pushed out.

Johnny wants to try and stop him, but Derek won’t listen to what he has to say.

Enlisting Patrick’s help to talk Derek round, together they try to make him see he has a place in the Square.

Will Derek let them help him through his difficult situation?
