EastEnders newcomer Lee Ryan reveals details of throat cancer scare

The singer had throat surgery back in 2015

Blue singer Lee Ryan is set to reveal all about his throat cancer scare ahead of his EastEnders debut.

He opens up about the horrific time in a new book to be released soon with his former band mates.

Lee was warned back in 2015 that if he didn’t have surgery on his throat, he could have lost his voice permanently.

Fellow band mates Duncan James, Simon Webbe and Anthony Costa have all contributed to the book, which reveals details about the group’s turbulent career.

A source spoke about Lee’s scare back in 2015: “They found a huge white lump on his vocal cords.

“It isn’t cancer but an aggressive cyst that is growing quickly. Stress can be a factor and he’s had plenty of that.”

Meanwhile, Duncan James has used the book to pay tribute to his long-time friend, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, who passed away earlier this month.

In the tell-all book, an exert reveals: “We were like two naughty little schoolchildren.

“I’d never had a friend like her.

“We definitely brought out the mischievous side in each other. No one was safe.”

Simon Webb opens up about his battle with depression and suicidal thoughts.

But things are looking up for the four men despite their struggles in the past.

A source told The Sun: “This book has more highs and lows than Game of Thrones, and almost as much drama.

“They really enjoyed opening up – they’ve been through some real tough times both individually and as a band.”

Lee is soon to make his acting debut on BBC’s EastEnders and he’s set to be a complete “bad boy”.

Fans went into a frenzy after the news that Lee would be joining the square was announced.

One said: “@bbceastenders can’t wait till @OfficialLeeRyan is in it!! im so excited #EastEnders.”

Another said: Now I have a reason to watch eastenders again… @OfficialLeeRyan #eastenders #leeryan.”
