Lucy Benjamin hints at possible return to EastEnders as Lisa Fowler

Phil Mitchell's ex was a big fixture in Walford for five years

| Updated:

We’ve seen the triumphant return of Ross Kemp to EastEnders this year, now we could be looking forward to a comeback from another (former) member of the Mitchell clan.

Remember Lisa Fowler? Small, blonde and handy with a shotgun? Before marrying Mark (RIP), she was with Phil Mitchell, gifting him daughter Louise.

Phil never really loved her the way she wanted to, so she tried to kill him. (There are a few more details to that story we may just have missed out…)

Actress Lucy Benjamin who played the popular character for five years has now said “never say never” on the subject of a return to Albert Square.

She told Yahoo: “You can never say never about going back, and you don’t know the way things will evolve, look at Gilly [Gillian Taylforth who plays Kathy Mitchell], she’s back again after a long time.”

The 46-year-old added: “I regret nothing, absolutely nothing. I had a ball for the five and a bit years I was there.”

During her time with the soap, real life imitated art as Lucy dated on-screen partner Steve McFadden who, of course, plays Phil.

Nowadays Lisa is happily married to Richard Taggart  and they have two daughters – Bessie Jo, nine, and five-year-old Rosie.

The actress added: “It’s lovely for me now, because I can do different things, I worked with Tamzin Outhwaite recently on New Tricks, so I like being more of a jobbing actress, it feels really great to be able to dip in and out.

“I don’t know how it would be, being a full-time mum and a full-time actress on EastEnders, I think it would be tricky.”
